I'm very excited about starting a C3C career as a scenario creator. I've been lurking/playing Civ3 now for 8+ years. It's time to give back to the community that has given me so much entertainment for these past 8 years. My first creation that I would like to share and get feedback on is a scenario based off of an old wargame I used to play in my youth called PanzerBlitz. This game simulated platoon level combat on the Eastern Front during WW2. I am attempting to recreate the gameplay mechanics as close as possible using C3C as the engine. I expect to have my work severly criticized. Since this is my first attempt at scenario making I probably have a lot of noobish mistakes. I hope that you can help me correct them. I have a beta version ready for evaluation but there are some problems with the scenario that I need help with. I'll be uploading the files soon as I want to playtest a little more to see if I can figure out my mistakes before begging for help. MoffJ (31.December 2009) |

Moff, I'd be interested in that scenario. I used to play, and still have, Panzer Blitz (as well as Panzer Leader and Arab-Israeli Wars and many, many more Avalon Hill grand strategy games - but PB was my very first board war game - in 1978). Whenever its is playable, let me know the link and I'll definitely try it out.

I still own those same games too! Panzer Blitz was also my very first wargame that I got also circa 1979-1980. Had tons of fun, especially with Arab-Israeli wars.
Although I had put this project on hold last year, I will start work on it again soon. I have put together Panzer Blitz situation number 1. All the units are ready as well as the map. I just need to figure out how to simulate the goals of the original situation in civilization 3: conquests.

What are these goals?

There are two sides in the scenario which is set during WW2. The Russians are making a rear area raid of the German lines. Their goal is to capture the German Command posts. There are 3 command posts and in the original scenario you get rated for how many of the 3 command posts you take at the end of 10 turns. You also score based on how many units you kill.
For the Germans it is a simple matter of surviving and holding on to the command posts. During initial setup of the scenario the player is given the freedom to place his command posts anywhere on the map board. |

My five cents to it: Make the command posts cities, founded by settlers with a movement rate that covers the whole map, use the No-Raze-patch and give city scoring a high rate.

Both of you have great points. I'll try the scenario with two versions, one with princesses and one with infinite move settlers. I'm on a short weekend getaway now, hence I'm away from my home rig, but once I get back I'll start experimenting and report back.
Thanks for the ideas guys! |
