Or possibly it had old drivers.

You were right, I updated the Original Card with new drivers, and works.

Meh. Civ4 ain't so bad. In terms of gameplay it's very good, although it might not live up to expectations of some. The graphics should be burn and scatter to the wind though.

I thought I should try it and fortunately I did not have to pay for it. (a gift) There are about a half dozen ideas I would like to see in Civ 3 but otherwise it is truly a bore. I will probably get BTS and the next upgrade for gifts as well since I am difficult to buy for. I will give them a cursory look before I vote but it doesn't look good after vanilla & warlords. I have started an old mod. The excitement is back! (ACW as Johnny Reb--PTW)

I did get hold of Civ4 Colonization - I admit that I loaded it and that it looked kind of promising but I really don't have the time to spend learning it, LOL.

I have so far seen the pretty little boat sail across the ocean and up to the coast - even traveled along the coast until I found the Indians - couldn't figure out how to say 'How!', so I put it away (hell, I was lucky to stumble over how to save a game) and haven't touched it since. That was some time in late March. Oh well.

I have since learned that I now live very near to an actual game shop - this has lead me to get involved with a game called 'Wings of War', a combination figure, table and card game that plays fast and recreates WW1 aerial combat.

I can now fly Fritz Kempf's predominately green Fokker DR.1 with the lovely words 'Kennscht mi Noch?' written on the center wing against the evil Sopwith, Spad or Nieuport of my choice - without guilt or mercy - and down a balloon or two as I go about it. Here's a LINK:

If all goes well, I shall soon be throwing elements of Rommel's 90th light against a few companies of the British 7th Armoured Division in glorious 1/285th scale using GHQ MicroArmour or 'Angriff!' rules. I just LOVE my new apartment!

Anyway - lemme know when you guys want to get back to work on SOE. I'll be ready to write when there's something orderly to write for. Cya!

Civilization IV is my second-favorite computer game (the first is Civ3, of course). However, different merits for Civ3 and CIV: for example, Civ3's experiencesysten is simpler, but less realistic, while in CIV, the promotion system is far more complicated, but it is quite satisfying, for example. Also, most of the leaders get their own, unique, diplomacy theme that reflects their nation, for example, Peter of Russia's diplomacy theme is the Song of the Volga Boatmen. There are many more things that make CIV, in some ways, superior to Civ3 (like the unlimited amount of civilizations), and there are also many more things that make Civ3 superior to CIV, like how you can make your own, unique leaderheads and units. Hopefully, this doesn't make me a martyr. I frankly am unready for martyrdom.
