I ended up having to repair the first 4 archives using winrar and then I got the installation to work.
However I'm having a problem now. When I try to start the game I get the following error while the world is being created: "Cannot find AoI II\art\units\z078Garrison\..\MaximGB\x_germanHMG Victory.flc" I'm going to unpack the "patch1" rar and see if that helps. |

Extracting Patch 1 did the trick for my unit error and I played my first turn. Save game file successfully.
Thank you for the hard work Adler. There are many many units, improvements, etc. to get familiar with. Nice job. |

Very special thanks to Adler for this wonderful scenario!!!
AOI II 1.1 Germany-Admiral My changes according to the original AOI II setting: -NO Austria-Hungary, the cities are divided between Germany (Prague, Troppau, Vienna), Poland (Krakau, Lemberg) and the Balcan Nations (Budapest) and Italy (Triest). My intention was to make Poland, Italy and the Balcan Nations stronger for a longer survival in the game. Originally I wanted to put Germany and AH together as one nation, but in that case, Germany is getting much too strong in the game! -Nearly half of the AH-Fleet (without the carrier) are given to the Balcan Nations, the rest was scrapped. So the Balcan Nations are a force in the Mediterranian Sea to deal with (especially for Italy, the Ottoman Empire and of course the UK). Political Situation: 5 years after the Great War and the treaty of Versailles, Germany slowly recovered from the millions of death and the desolate food and economic status. According to the economic depression, cash was scarce (especially for the supply of the Hochseeflotte and the german army). At the end of WW I, Austria-Hungary, the only real german ally, vanishes from the european map according to political and ethnical problems (Otto I., the last Habsburg emperor wasn't able to make the necessary reforms for a survival of the multi-ethnic state). The "german part" of Austria joins the Reich, Galicia (with the old polish capital Krakau (Krakow) and the city of Lemberg are now part of Poland, Triest was occupied by Italian forces and the rest get part of the Balcan Nations. According to the new political situation, Germany was surrounded by new (and old) enemies: in the east, a new, mighty Poland has risen keeping an eye on german territory with a great polish minority (Western Prussia, Upper Silesia). And the mutual protection pact with France puts a potential war with Poland at high risk for Germany. The Soviet Union, recovering from the bloody civil war, is also a potenital enemy because the Baltic States are now under control of the Germans. The economic and industrial base of world's first socialistic state is nearly as weak as during the tsarist monarchy, but if Stalin is able to build it up, the russian bear can become quite a beast...and a treat for the rest of Europe. In the west, the "hereditary enemy" of Germany, France, is slowly recovering from the war. Huge parts of northern France are destroyed as a result of the trench war during 1914-1918. Guarded by the Maginot-Line and allied with Poland, the French are waiting for a new chance to get back the territories they lost in the french-german war 1870/71; especcially the city of Strassburg (fr.: Strasbourg). But there's also the old rivalry between France and their WW1-Entente-ally, the UK. And without help, France couldn't get into a victorious war against the British or the Germans. The Royal Navy still rules the sea, but with the US, a new mighty rival with a serious fleet has risen! In the far east, the Imperial Japanse Navy is a treath to the British and the US...not to forget the still existing German Hochseeflotte in Europe. The Battle of Jutland in WW1 with the high losses showed the Royal Navy, that the german fleet could hold against the british leviathan although they were outmatched by numbers! After WW1 the United States are on a more isolationistic way: thousands of american Soldiers died on the battlefields in France...only to restore the prewar status of the european empires according to the treaty of Versailles! According to the Monroe-Doctrin "America to the Americans!", there are a lot of opportunities on the north american continent and in the south. but they have to keep a wary eye on the Japanese in the pacific...Pearl Habour and the Phillipines are potential targets for the Japanese! Start of the Game: At first, the primary goal of Germany is to secure the borders and building up the infrastructure in the colonies. The german general staff realizes, that it will become very difficult to hold the african colonies against an early british or french attack. In the pacific, the situation isn't better. With two old battlecruisers you cannot defend the islands or German New Guinea against the British, the US or the Japanese! Although the city of Tsingtao with the Kaiserliche Marinebasis is well fortified, a concentrated blow from the Imperial Japanese Navy will break the defense sooner or later. And the situation in Europe in the early state of the game didn't allow to ship out troops to secure the colonies. To avoid an colonial war as long as possible, I pay tribute to France and Britian when they demand them. On turn 13, Scandiavian troops suddenly (Finnish Jaeger-Infantry) appeard near Dresden! I couldn't remember any right of passage with Scandinavia...but on the next turn, they disappeard! I pressume my cities are too hard to conquer for them so a war with Scandinavia was avoided (this time!). The North Sea was full of Britsh/Scandinavian and Lowland ships which made it difficult to ship raw materials from the colonies to Hamburg, especially the British refused any right-of passage agreement! Because the Soviet Union is the only real treath in the Baltic Sea, I split the Hochseeflotte in two parts: 6 Battleships, 4 Battlecruisers, 2 Carriers, 8 Light Cruisers and 25 Destroyers might be enough to crush the russian Baltic Fleet and starting a siege of Leningrad (the only russian habour in the Baltic Sea!). I hope, the British didn't attack Germany until the russian Baltic Fleet is destroyed! Turn 18: after paying tribute to France, they are surprisingly polite to me! Even a right of passage agreement is possible so I take the chance. My diplomats think they are searching an potential ally for a future war with the UK...let us see. At the end of the year 1925, Soviet Forces (6 Infantry, 3 Solokov Machine Gunners and several FT 17's) are approaching the gates of Berlin, taking the way through Poland. It seems like war is coming up. On the next turn, the Soviet Union declared war on me. The Baltic Fleet is attacking the fortifications near Tallin and the city himself. The Red Airforce attacks the city of Wilna and destroyed several city improvements. 3 Bombers where shot down by Flak and the Fighter Squadron in Wilna. Other two soviet Infantry units are on the way to Königsberg. After destroying the soviet forces on the gates of Berlin and Königsberg, the german army marches to the direction of Leningrad. After the attack on Wilna, the Baltic Fleet retreat to the naval base of Leningrad...so the russians made an similar mistake as 1904/05 against the Japanese at Port Arthur. My baltic part of the Hochseeflotte destroyed the whole Baltic Fleet of the Soviets in 3 turns, only two of my battleships were damaged. After an intensive sea bombardment, the german army conquered Leningrad without losses. Instead of stopping the german invasion in the north, the russians repeat bringing small amounts of infantry to the gates of Berlin and Königsberg which are bombed down by the Luftwaffe and killed by Grosskampfwagen and Erhard Straßenpanzerwagen. Minsk and Nowgorod are the next russian cities conquered by the german troops, but without sea bombardment the first casualties came on the german side. Even the Big Berta's and the 3 Paris Guns cannot bomb all the defenders in the cities down to 1 HP. With the last of the reserves, Germany conquered Gomel and Kiev, but the russian resistance is getting stronger and stronger. Lesser infantry but more and more FT 17's are arriving on the battlefield, so it's time to make peace with Stalin because I have nearly no reserves! The result of the first german-russian war: 5 russian cities conquered (including Leningrad which I renamed to "St. Pietersburg"), the russian Baltic Fleet is destroyed, high casualties for the Red Army. But the german casualties are high, too: 10 Grosskampfwagen, 3 Flametrowers, 3 Reichswehr Infantry, 4 Stromtroopers, 2 Gebirgsjaeger, and 2 Erhard Straßenpanzerwagen...more than 1/3 of my entire offensive forces! Several city improvements at Tallin and Wilna are destroyed too during the russian air strikes...more air defense is needed! And it will take time and money to build up an infrastructure and city improvements in the conquered cities. to be continued... |
